Eligibility - 2026 WLA Awards

Professional Awards
For all professional categories (Built, Conceptual, Cultural Landscape)
Landscape architects, urban design and architecture Firms, and Individual landscape architects can enter the Professional Awards. Students or recent graduates cannot enter the Professional Awards; they should enter the Student Awards. 

Organisations and companies (non-profit, non-government, government, charities) may enter landscape architecture projects on behalf of the designer. Organisations and companies (non-profit, non-government, government, charities) may enter landscape architecture projects on behalf of the designer.

  • Projects must be a concept or built during 2021-2026. 
  • Any previous entries (projects) that won an Award in the WLA Awards cannot enter the 2026 Professional Awards.
  • Any previously finalist (shortlisted) entries can be entered in this year’s WLA Awards if they meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Any winners in any other awards or competitions (such as ASLA, IFLA, CSLA, AILA, Landscape Institute, HKILA, SILA, Dezeen, Architizer, etc) are eligible to be entered in the WLA Awards if they meet the other eligibility criteria.

Student Awards

Concept Design – Students should be currently enrolled in a university program or college, including Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Landscape Engineering, Architecture, Urban Design or Urban Planning. Student Groups can submit for this category.

Graduate – Students who have graduated in the past 2 years (2024-2026) or graduating in 2026 from a university program including Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Landscape Engineering, Architecture, Urban Design or Urban Planning. Student Groups can submit for this category.

University Studio Award – A design studio that is part of an accredited landscape design program by a government education authority or professional landscape organisation (e.g. ASLA, CLARB, CELA, CHSLA, AILA, CSLA, SILA, HKILA, etc). Only Universities can submit for this category. Universities with a juror on the WLA Student Awards are ineligible to enter this category.

Submission Requirements

Awards Submission

The Awards submission should include the following:

  • A maximum of five (5) pages (A3 format – landscape orientation) using the WLA template will only be accepted (which is supplied as a download link via email after purchasing an entry registration)
  • Project Description Page is the first page, which is one (1) page of text (maximum 500 words – no images). University Studio Award submissions have a word limit of 1000 words.
  • Images Pages are the following four (4) pages with project images (multiple images can be placed on each image page). 
  • A plan must be included with each submission to help jurors understand the scale and spatial design.
  • Captions – Each image can include a 25-word maximum caption. The captions are optional.
  • No large amounts of text on images. Place names, legends/index, labels, etc are acceptable.
  • Complete the page footer, which must include the Project Name (the name of the project), Category and the Entry Number. 
  • The entry number (the same as the order number provided via email) and project name shall be displayed in the locations specified in the template. Your entry number is 6-digits (26XXXX, e.g. 261010)and should not include the #.
  • Do not change the font, font style or font size in the template for any text, including the footer
  • Do not include entrants (or collaborators) company or designer’s or university names or recognisable graphics/logos within the Entry Submission text or images. Any entry that contains the names or logos will be disqualified. 
  • Awards submission shall be less than 15Mb in PDF format. The PDF file only needs to be at a screen resolution (96 dpi) for juries to review. The Entry Guide includes a section on how to export from Indesign.

Submission Information

You are required to submit via the WLA Awards website.

  • The Entry Submission File should be in PDF format and no more than 15 MB. The file name should include the Entry number, the Entry name (15 characters maximum), and the category. E.g. 268888-Garden Rooms-Built-PrivRes.pdf 
  • The Entry Submission File should be five (5) separate pages (not spreads) in one PDF file.
  • You are required to provide the Entry Number, Entry Name, Design Company/Designer Name, Collaborators (Architect, Engineers, Client as applicable) and Image Credits(Photographer, Rendering Company, etc, as applicable) as text in the submission email. Not as a separate text file. 
  • Provide one Hero/Feature image (minimum 1200 pixels wide at 150 dpi in jpg format) that best represents your entry. This will be used for the finalist list and promotions.  
  • You are required to agree to the WLA Awards Declaration and provide Image Permission
  • Students – Provide a copy of your Student ID or other University-issued ID or Certificate. We also suggest that you use a non-university email address if we wish to be contact you after graduation. 
  • Universities – the person submitting must provide a copy of a University-issued ID to verify their affiliation with the University.

Before submitting, ensure you have thoroughly checked the PDF files (Entry Submission File and Awards Declaration). We will no longer accept revised or updated Entry Submission files.

Submissions Checklist

  1. Entry Submission PDF file (less than 15Mb)
  2. One (1) Hero/Feature project image in jpg format (minimum 1200 pixels wide at 150 dpi)
  3. Every File (Submission and Hero/Feature Image) has been  named with Entry Number, Entry Name (only 15 characters), etc (see above)
  4. You have all the information required for the submission, including the design company, collaborators, and photographer.
  5. You can agree to the WLA Awards Declaration and Image Permission when entering the 2026 WLA Awards.

Partner Member – $270AUD (approx. 193USD, 163, £143 1350CNY) per entry
Sponsor Member – $240AUD (approx. 172USD, 145, £127 1200CNY) per entry

You need to purchase a membership and receive your coupon code before purchasing your registrations.

Membership is not required to register or enter the WLA Awards. 

Purchases of multiple entries will receive separate emails with additional order/entry numbers within 48 hours.
To receive multiple entry numbers, please purchase at least 48 hours before the deadline.

Student Awards Registration Fees

Student – $25AUD (approx. 17USD, €15, 120CNY) per entry
University – $150AUD (approx. 107USD, 90, 735CNY) per entry

Registration Fees can be paid at the WLA Shop via Alipay, Paypal, or credit card. 

Deadlines

Registrations and Submissions closed at 11:59 pm Honolulu time on 8 May 2026

Please pay attention to the deadline time in relation to your timezone. Late entries are not accepted due to a misunderstanding of the deadline time (timezone).
